Your Markdown. Connected. Explore and edit Markdown collections — from personal notebooks to documentation written by coding agents. Merkzeug helps you navigate related files, follow links and understand diagrams without moving your notes out of their folders or repositories. YOUR PERSONAL NOTEBOOK Keep ideas, projects and meeting notes together as ordinary Markdown files. Write visually with headings, lists, tables and images. Edit titles, tags and other frontmatter to keep the context with every file. No Git repository is required. YOUR REPOSITORY, YOUR FILES Clone your repository in Working Copy, then open its folder in Merkzeug through the Files app. Edit notes in Merkzeug; commit, push and pull in Working Copy. Working Copy is a separate app, and access depends on its file-provider support and configuration. Merkzeug does not run Git commands on iOS. FROM CALENDAR TO MEETING NOTES Choose an event from your iPhone or iPad calendars to create a meeting note. Calendar access requires your permission. SEE THE CONNECTIONS Follow links between notes, view Mermaid diagrams inside your documents, and edit titles, tags and other frontmatter. Write visually with headings, lists, tables and images while keeping ordinary Markdown files. TEMPLATE STYLES, PRINTING AND DESKTOP PDF Use the same Markdown files in Merkzeug for Mac to export notes and directly linked documents with reusable PDF templates. On iPhone and iPad, use template styles while editing, share templates through iCloud and print with AirPrint. A separate PDF-file export is available on Mac. Merkzeug combines the German words merken (to remember) and Werkzeug (tool): a tool for thoughts worth keeping. It reads and edits your documents; it does not run a coding agent. The interface and built-in help are available in English and German. Merkzeug is available for macOS, iPhone and iPad, and as a plugin for IntelliJ IDEA (beta).
