About

Origa is a Japanese learning app that runs on your device. Whatever you meet in Japanese, whether a word, a line, or a page of text, becomes a card. Each card comes back just before you would forget it. LEARN FROM WHAT YOU ENCOUNTER Most Japanese apps assume you already have the words. Origa assumes you don't. Four ways to create cards: • Type or paste a word or sentence — Origa fills in pronunciation, translation, and JLPT level. • Photograph Japanese text — Origa extracts the words on-device. • Record audio — Origa transcribes it on-device. • Import an existing Anki deck — duplicates are skipped. Everything runs offline after the first setup. Your photos and audio never leave the device. WHAT YOU STUDY • Vocabulary — built-in dictionaries in your language, native-speaker audio, pre-built word sets for popular textbooks (Minna no Nihongo, Irodori, JLPT levels). • Kanji — automatic furigana that hides as you learn, writing practice with stroke order, JLPT-mapped kanji reference. • Grammar — structured reference organized by JLPT level, with examples built from the vocabulary you already know. • Phrases and listening — a large library of native-speaker phrases with original audio, automatically selected for your level. The spaced-repetition scheduler is FSRS — the same algorithm Anki v3 uses. OFFLINE-FIRST After the first launch, Origa downloads dictionaries, kanji, grammar data, and recognition models once. After that, lessons, reviews, capture, and scheduling run without an internet connection. The only things that need the network are account sync and catalog imports. WHO IT'S FOR • Self-learners who already use Anki but spend more time making cards than reviewing them. • People who read manga, watch anime, or talk with Japanese speakers and want to capture what they see and hear into a real SRS system. • Learners studying through a language other than English — the interface is localized, the dictionary is Japanese-native. PRIVACY Photos, audio, and your study data stay on your device. The only network traffic is the one-time content download and optional account sync. No ads.
