About

Bunny Dollars is for couples who share bills. We believe keeping the balance of a dedicated shared bills account above $0 handles 80% of the problem couples face with coordinating money. We also believe that household finances tend to be managed by the person who hates it least. That often leads to an asymmetry: one person holds all the answers about where the money’s going. That puts pressure on both people. So we put our best bunny scientists on the problem, and in exchange for a 6 month ration of organic carrots, they figured it out. Every couple that shares bills must answer two questions each pay day: How much does each person need to transfer to bills? What’s left after that to spend or save? Unfortunately, it doesn't seem any of the big budgeting apps had this in mind. They were designed for one income, want you to input every expense, categorize, and link a bunch of accounts to display a busy dashboard that answers trivia questions about your money. Our scientists offered a thought provoking analogy here: Bunnies are soft. But they live in a world full of horror and violence. They need real solutions to survive. With that in mind, Bunny Dollars was designed to ask you less while delivering the answer you actually need: Is there enough money in the bills account before the next time one of us gets paid? If that's a question you ask, you've just found the easiest way to always have an answer. Here's the plan: Agree on how to fairly split recurring expenses and tell us when and how much you get paid. We'll tell each person what must be transferred to bills each check to meet their share. You probably already have a joint account for shared bills. We make it easy to link that account via Plaid. Then we forecast the future balance of that account. When the timing of income or expenses vary, instantly know if there will ever be a shortfall out to 1 year. If it’s ever short, we’ll show you different ways to handle it. When new recurring expenses appears or leaves the transaction data, Bunny Dollars knows. It learns when expense amounts or timing shifts, offering to change scheduling rules in response. You can always skip or modify individual occurrences of recurring deposits and expenses and easily add one-time expenses. Manager splits for each expense — 50/50, proportionally to income, or custom. See how your per check bill transfer amount breaks down into each expense. Silence a bill to see how much would be left in your pocket each check without it. It was important to ensure the math is always visible (if you want). That way, you can verify the forecast verdict (shortfall vs surplus) and see how much each person is contributing at any time.Read more
