Compa: Groovebox Companion

Give your groovebox a compa. COMPA is a music-making companion for iPhone and iPad. Keep the workflow you love on your hardware, then use COMPA to sample, sequence, shape a sound, catch a take, and build a song. External hardware is optional. BUILT AROUND YOUR GEAR Supported devices get tailored controls and MIDI defaults. Work with SP-404MKII effects, P-6 granular controls, T-8 rhythms, EP-40 pads, or the EP-136 Sidekick's audio pairs. Other compatible class-compliant USB audio interfaces can provide input and output without a dedicated device profile. MIDI and audio are separate capabilities; cables, adapters, hubs, interface settings, and available channels depend on your setup. CHOMP: SAMPLE, STEM, CHOP, PLAY Record onto a pad, import a sample, or hold an empty pad to capture from its chosen source, including the built-in mic when selected. Trim, tune, reverse, fade, sequence, perform, and resample. Send CHOMP audio to Clips or Arrange, or load the included CHOMP AUv3 instrument in a compatible host. Quota Stems Standard 4 separates drums, bass, other, and vocals on device. Keep the four aligned on one pad, focus and mute roles separately, and edit them together. CHOMP's waveform views support zoom and pan. CHOP can find editable song-section cues and turn them into cuts on playable pads. Full-song separation takes processing time and an optional user-initiated model download; it is not instant stems. CATCH YOUR PERFORMANCE Play through a connected groovebox or MIDI controller, then use Capture MIDI to replay the MIDI COMPA actually received through its instrument. Hold Capture MIDI for phrase/window, loop, tempo, and placement choices. Audio Recall keeps a rolling post-effects mix. Its new trim can remove unused silence at the start and end, leaving the rescued take ready for Takes, Clips, Arrange, or CHOMP. +REC rescues the past and continues forward. CLIPS, ARRANGE, PATTERN, FETCH Launch loops and scenes in Clips, then develop them in Arrange. Edit audio and MIDI, adjust waveform fades, and copy or duplicate without silently replacing other material. Play Keys without leaving Clips or Arrange and reopen a hosted AUv3 source from its audio track. Pattern builds melodic or drum grooves and can sequence the selected CHOMP pad bank. FETCH develops chords, bass, melody, and drums with built-in voices, compatible AUv3 instruments, or MIDI gear. MIX, ROUTE, SYNC Mix sources with AUv3 inserts and sends. Route begins with labeled Input, COMPA, and Output controls; choose a live stereo pair or one mono channel, and turn on live input monitoring only when wanted. COMPA guards known groovebox USB-return paths and asks before same-interface monitoring. On supported routes, input and output may use different devices. Bluetooth listening uses the system output picker; wired or USB is better for tight timing. Join Ableton Link for tempo and optional transport sync. Compatible Link Audio peers can share COMPA's mix or source channels over a local network. Wireless audio is buffered; it is not a substitute for low-latency wired monitoring. MIDI Matrix and Rig Setup keep controller claims, outgoing MIDI channels, Clock, and Start/Stop choices visible per connected device.
