About
If you use an external DAC with PEQ, give this app a try. It can help you find the PEQ settings your room needs. See how your speakers sound in your room, and find PEQ settings for your DAC. PEQ Wizard uses your iPhone microphone to measure the frequency response at your listening position. It calculates up to 10 parametric EQ filters for you to enter into an external DAC or equalizer, helping you identify and reduce bass peaks in your setup. From measurement to manual entry • Measure speaker and room response with a sweep signal. • Combine nearby listening positions and check how much the response varies. • Compare measured, target, and predicted response curves. • Calculate frequency, gain, Q, and a recommended preamp for up to 10 bands. • Copy or share a DAC entry table with unused bands marked OFF. • Measure again after entering the settings in your DAC to check the actual change. • Keep your current measurement session and filters saved on your iPhone. Understand your measurements Check recording quality, including input levels and signal level above background noise. Import a .txt or .cal calibration file matched to your microphone. Explore the workflow without audio hardware using the clearly labeled synthetic demo. What you need Real measurements require speakers and a compatible audio output connection. A wired DAC connected to powered speakers or an amplifier and speakers is recommended. To use the calculated filters, your DAC or equalizer must support manual PEQ entry. The app does not apply EQ to music or change DAC settings automatically. iPhone microphones vary by model and orientation. Without a matching calibration file, the response is relative and includes the microphone's characteristics. Default PEQ focuses on reducing bass peaks between 80 and 300 Hz, with a 0 dB boost limit. Measure again at the same position after applying the settings. Designed for speakers and rooms. Headphone correction, calibrated sound-pressure level (SPL), and DAC distortion measurements are not provided. Available in English and Korean.Read more
