Tokin Shogi

Shogi is Japanese chess, with one big twist: the pieces you capture switch sides and come back into the game. Tokin Shogi teaches it to you one file at a time. START SMALL, GROW THE BOARD You begin on a narrow 3-file board with only Kings, Golds and Pawns. Beat the village and the board widens to 5 files, then 7, and finally the real 9×9 game. New pieces join your army at each step, so you learn them one at a time. A LADDER OF TWELVE OPPONENTS Play your way from farm boy Taro to the Ninja Clan, the Samurai and finally Shogun Tokugawa. Early opponents give you a handicap by playing without some of their pieces, a real shogi tradition, so your first wins come fast. REAL RANKS Earn kyu and dan ranks the way Japanese players do, from 15 Kyu up to Shodan and beyond. Every promotion gives you a certificate with your name written in Japanese, ready to share. Beat the Shogun to earn the title of Meijin. FIND OUT WHY YOU LOST After every game, Sensei reviews your moves. You see your accuracy, the single move where the game turned, and the better move you missed. Tap "Try again from here" to replay that exact position. BUILT FOR BEGINNERS AND CHESS PLAYERS • Pieces are marked with clear letters: K, R, B, G, S, N, L, P. Tap any piece to see its full name and how it moves. • Training wheels show where each piece can go, and which squares are dangerous. They come off as you rank up. • Chess players can take a five-puzzle placement test and skip ahead. • Collect twelve classic shogi proverbs, in Japanese and English. • Kanji pieces unlock when you reach Shodan.
