Threshold: Reactive Dog Plan

Threshold is a week-by-week practice plan for a dog that lunges, barks, or freezes on walks. TODAY: ONE PRACTICE Today shows one practice for this dog: what it is for, and on a walk the distance to start at. Open it and the steps, when to end, and that practice's check are on one screen. Under the check: your dog can notice the other dog or person, take food with a soft mouth, look away, and keep a loose body. Eating alone is not enough. LOG IT IN TWO TAPS When you are back, tap Log it, then how it went: stayed easy, I left early, or they reacted. On a walk near a trigger, you log the distance in your own steps. It comes filled in from your last distance when that one stayed easy, or from your starting guess before you have logged one. After a distance that was too close, you pick a new one. A note is optional. At home the middle choice is Stopped early, and there is no distance. Ending early counts. After a reaction the log saves, then two safety questions come before the practice ends, and walk practice near triggers waits until tomorrow; a sniff walk or a game at home is fine. WEEK 1 IS FREE FOR EVERY DOG A plan for this week's walks, a marker word and a U-turn taught at home, Look at that from far away, finding the distance where your dog can notice another dog or person, take food gently, and look away, an end-the-session rule, and week notes. Run it as many times as you like. No account needed. THE THRESHOLD PLAN: ONE PURCHASE Weeks 2 to 8 and ongoing practice, for every dog you add. You teach the games at home, then take them outside: open bar at a distance, waiting for a look away, set-ups with a helper and a steady dog, exits for surprises, and your everyday routes. Week 8 is a plan you write and keep. After week 8, a lighter round you can repeat for as long as you want to keep practicing. One payment. A CHECK-IN EVERY WEEK At the end of each week the check-in lists each walk and home practice, with the distance when you logged one, and suggests what comes next. Moving on opens only when every walk and home practice stayed easy over three or more days. You can always repeat the week, and from week 3 you can go back to an easier one. The suggestion is the same whether or not you buy the plan. MORE THAN ONE DOG Each dog gets its own plan, log, safety check, and vet check. Switch dogs from the name at the top of Today. Practice with one dog at a time. SAFETY CHECKS AND WHEN TO GET HELP When you add a dog and at every check-in, a safety check asks about bites and snaps, growling at people at home or at children, guarding, sudden changes, pain, a dog that can't settle, and whether you can hold the leash. Any yes pauses that dog's practices and points you to your veterinarian first, then a veterinary behaviorist or a certified behavior consultant. Threshold also asks whether a vet has examined your dog in the past year, because pain and illness can make reactions worse; practices near other dogs and people wait for that check.
