About

Safenity Japan is a map for exploring public safety in Japan and comparing up to three areas. Features • Compare reported crime counts, rates per 100,000 residents, resident population, source year, and source • Search prefectures and municipalities by Japanese or Latin name • Switch between crime and earthquake views • Save favorites and keep up to 12 recent areas • Share a comparison card as a PNG image and text with the native share sheet Crime data uses the latest available public statistics for each area, including 2025, 2024, or 2023 sources, with resident population as the rate denominator. Rates generally use 2020 resident population. Futaba Town alone uses Fukushima Prefecture’s resident-register population of 5,294 as of January 1, 2025, with its population year and source shown. The adjusted map score is a separate indicator from the resident rate in comparison cards. Earthquake view shows a separate maximum sampled value from J-SHIS 2024 data: the maximum sampled probability within 30 years of JMA intensity 6 lower or higher. It is not an all-hazard forecast or alert service. Bundled statistics support offline search and comparison. Internet access is required for map tiles. Location is optional and is used to move the map near you. No account, advertising, behavioral analytics SDK operated by us, or real-time alerts are included. When map tiles are displayed, GSI receives your IP address and visible map area, retains logs, and analyzes them internally. See the privacy policy. Figures are reference information and do not guarantee safety. Tokyo town-level data is a reference layer and is not exhaustive. The UI is available in Japanese, English, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. Place names remain Japanese with Romanized labels where available; they are not fully translated into every UI language. Sources and status: Crime statistics come from prefectural police and municipal publications; each area detail can open its source URL. Tokyo town-level example: Metropolitan Police CSV (https://www.keishicho.metro.tokyo.lg.jp/about_mpd/jokyo_tokei/jokyo/ninchikensu.files/R6.csv). Earthquake data: J-SHIS API (https://www.j-shis.bosai.go.jp/api-pshm-meshinfo). Map tiles: GSI (https://maps.gsi.go.jp/development/ichiran.html#blank). The earthquake maximum is the maximum among sampled points, not a probability for the whole municipality. Safenity Japan does not represent a government agency or political organization.Read more
