Once there was a print shop, and on its workbench sat four takes of work waiting for a pair of hands. THE FIRST TAKE was called Block Lock. In a chase lay numbered quoins, and around exactly one quoin you were to drag a rectangle of furniture, and that rectangle's area had to equal the quoin's number, no more and no less. Tap a block and it lifts again. Cover every cell with no gaps and no overlaps, and the forme locks tight. Sixty-four levels grew the chase from three by four to seven by ten, and brought pre-locked quoins, a no-squares rule and a clock that would not wait. THE SECOND TAKE was Word Press. A word stood in the composing stick with a target below it. Tap the sort you wished to change, then tap a letter from the case. Every word along the way had to be a true word, and the target had to be reached before the changes ran out. Fifty-six levels, three letters to five, two changes to eight, the case thinning and the hint withdrawn. THE LAST TWO were desks. Stock Desk turned a parent sheet, trim size and run length into cuts, sheets, grain, weight and stack height. Scale Composer turned a base size, ratio and baseline unit into a type scale with snapped leading. And every result was filed to the shelf, to be reopened or shared.
