EVP Bench is an audio workbench for EVP work. Every other app in this corner of the store generates sound. EVP Bench generates nothing — it records what is actually in the room and gives you the tools to examine it. It drops a timestamp you can jump straight to later, so a six-hour session does not become six hours of scrubbing. LOSSLESS, ALWAYS 44.1 kHz, 16-bit, uncompressed WAV. Not adjustable, on purpose: a codec's artifacts are indistinguishable from the events you are listening for. FINDINGS BECOME A DOCUMENT Classify any region A, B or C on the published EVP convention, type what you hear, and it is saved with the audio. Findings are searchable across every session. Import WAV files from other gear and use the bench on those. WHAT THIS APP DOES NOT DO EVP Bench does not detect voices. It will never highlight, flag or suggest anything in a recording — that would be the app making a claim, and the app makes none. What listeners hear in noise is auditory pareidolia, the same mechanism that finds faces in clouds. Slowing audio down and looping it make that effect stronger, not weaker.
