Cairn Finance

Cairn is a private personal finance app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It reads the bank accounts you authorize through SimpleFIN, then does everything else on your device. NO ACCOUNT. NO SERVER. NO TRACKING. NO CAIRN ACCOUNT. NO CAIRN BACKEND. NO TRACKING. There is no Cairn backend. Your transactions never pass through a server we run, and the app has no analytics, advertising, or third-party runtime SDKs. Cairn communicates directly with the SimpleFIN server you choose and, only if you enable it, your private iCloud database. REQUIRES SIMPLEFIN Cairn is free: it has no subscription, account, or service fee. Automatic bank sync requires your own SimpleFIN Bridge account, a separate paid service billed by SimpleFIN—not Cairn. Cairn can identify transfers between your accounts, but it never moves money. Thank you to SimpleFIN for the Bridge service and SimpleFIN protocol that make direct, read-only bank connections possible. Cairn is not affiliated with SimpleFIN or any financial institution. KNOW WHERE YOU STAND • See accounts, balances, and transactions, with net worth kept separate per currency. • Net-worth history that builds from your own data. • Investments and holdings, with cost basis and gain. CATEGORIZE YOUR OWN WAY • Write your own rules to categorize transactions by description or amount. • Add free-form tags and notes to any transaction. • Automation always yields to you: a category you set by hand is never overwritten. • Everything is enriched on your device. FIND SUBSCRIPTIONS AUTOMATICALLY • Cairn spots subscriptions and other regular payments, and shows the expected next charge. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • Financial fields are end-to-end encrypted in iCloud, independent of Advanced Data Protection — Apple stores the record, not the amount. • Your SimpleFIN credential lives in the Keychain, never in the database or logs. • Optional Face ID / Touch ID app lock. • Export everything to CSV or JSON, or delete it all. REQUIRES SIMPLEFIN Cairn connects to SimpleFIN Bridge or a bank-hosted SimpleFIN server. It is read-only: Cairn can reconcile money between your accounts, but it never moves money.
