One small shelter. A window onto the weather elsewhere. Choose a city or mark a place on the map. Give it a name if you like: Mum in Lisbon, a friend in Tokyo, somewhere you miss. Apple Weather's latest reading shapes the illustrated scenery and the mix of bundled field recordings, from a clear morning to rain, snow, or a storm. All listening audio is stored in the app. Make the shelter your own. Tap the roof to move between canvas, glass, and metal, each with its own rain texture. Pull the window open to bring more of the outdoors in. Tap the lantern to change its brightness, or hold it to put it out. When cold weather brings condensation, wipe a path through the glass. The weather sometimes brings small things to notice: stars, frost, a moth at the lantern, or a rainbow after rain. They appear when the conditions allow. About keeps a local Things seen list; you can turn it off and clear it whenever you like. Choose Your own weather to listen fully offline. Drag rain down onto the roof, move wind through the pines, and tap the sky for thunder. Labelled controls are also available in Set it yourself. Save a favorite arrangement, listen with the screen locked, and set a sleep timer to fade the sound to silence. Sound begins with a tap when you reopen the app. Keep a named place close with Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets. Explore available readings and forecasts from yesterday to tomorrow, or turn on a note for expected rain or sunrise. These features use the latest cached forecast; readings can lag, forecasts can change, and iOS controls background refresh and notification delivery. Share this moment creates a still image through the iPhone's share sheet. Shelter has no account, ads, analytics, or tracking. Settings, saved arrangements, named places, and things seen stay on your device. Chosen map coordinates are sent to Apple for weather and place names; Shelter does not request your device location.
