About

PingFinder finds every device on your network and tells you what each one is. Type a subnet (192.168.1.0/24), a range (10.0.0.10-50), a single address or any mix of them, press Scan, and devices appear as they answer. FINDS WHAT PING ALONE MISSES • ICMP echo, an optional TCP connect probe for devices that ignore ping (Windows PCs, printers, IoT gear) and the kernel's own neighbour cache, all running together • Up to 65,536 addresses in a single run, probed in parallel IDENTIFIES WHAT IT FINDS • Round-trip latency, measured at the socket • Vendor and hardware address are shown on the Mac version — iOS does not let apps read the network's address table, and PingFinder says so rather than showing a blank • Host names from reverse DNS and Bonjour, plus model identifiers such as MacBookPro18,3 or AppleTV5,3 • Open TCP ports with service names and banners • Inferred operating system, and a device type with its own icon — router, printer, camera, NAS, phone, TV and more SEARCH AND SORT • One search field matches name, IP, hardware address, vendor, port number, service name, banner text, operating system and your own notes at once • Filter by device type or favourites; sort by address, name, latency, type or vendor WATCH LATENCY OVER TIME • Add any device to the monitor and PingFinder pings it on a schedule • Live charts with minimum, average, maximum, jitter and packet loss • An event log that records the moment a device drops off the network and when it comes back TRACEROUTE AND DNS • Traceroute shows every router on the path, with per-probe timings, resolved names and a bar per hop • A dig-style DNS tool that speaks DNS directly — A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS, SOA, PTR, SRV, CAA and ANY — against your router, your system resolver or a public one KEEP YOUR RESULTS • Every scan is saved automatically; reopen an old one and compare it with the network as it is now to see what appeared and what disappeared • Devices are remembered between scans, so the names and notes you give them stick • Export any set of results as CSV or JSON • Scans, settings, names and notes sync through your own iCloud account across Mac, iPhone and iPad PRIVATE BY DESIGN There is no account, no server of ours and no analytics. Nothing about your network leaves your devices: results are stored on the device and, if you choose, in your own iCloud container. The vendor database is bundled with the app, so identifying hardware needs no network connection at all. PingFinder scans IPv4 networks. Made by OutWest AI.Read more
