About
Write Swift and SwiftUI on your iPad and watch it come alive as you type. PadCode is a code editor built for iPad, with a live, interactive preview right beside your code. Change a color, add a button, or rename a label, and the preview updates instantly. Tap the buttons, flip the toggles, drag the sliders: your interface works while you're still writing it. LIVE PREVIEWS • Updates as you type, with no build step • Buttons, toggles, sliders, pickers, text fields, sheets, and navigation links all work • Your view's state carries over between edits, so you don't lose your place • Preview in iPhone and iPad frames, in light or dark mode • Preview any view in your project, no #Preview needed • Run your interface full screen with one tap TEST ON A SECOND IPAD Open PadCode on another iPad on the same Wi-Fi and choose Player Mode. Your preview appears there live, and every tap and toggle flows back to the iPad you're coding on. AN EDITOR MADE FOR IPAD • Syntax highlighting for Swift • Code completion for SwiftUI views, modifiers, and SF Symbols names • Errors and warnings underlined as you type. Tap the line to see what's wrong • Pinch to zoom your code, or pick a font size • Keyboard shortcuts for moving lines (⌥⌘[ and ⌥⌘]), indenting (⌘[ and ⌘]), commenting (⌘/), duplicating (⌘D), and find and replace (⌘F) • A file tree for multi-file projects, and search to find any project fast WORKS WITH XCODE PROJECTS • Open a project folder or .xcodeproj from the Files app, including iCloud Drive • Edits save back to the original files, so a project in iCloud Drive stays in sync with your Mac • Create a new Xcode project on your iPad, save it to Files, and open it in Xcode on your Mac when you're ready to build and ship WHAT PADCODE PREVIEWS PadCode runs your SwiftUI through a built-in interpreter, so there's nothing to compile. It understands a broad and growing set of Swift and SwiftUI: stacks, lists, forms, grids, navigation, tabs, sheets, and alerts; @State, @Binding, @Observable, @Environment, and @AppStorage; structs, enums, extensions, closures, loops, and more. Code it doesn't understand yet shows a placeholder instead of breaking the preview. PadCode focuses on SwiftUI, so UIKit views and third-party packages aren't previewed. To build and publish an app, open your project in Xcode on a Mac. Start with one of the sample projects, or create your own in a couple of taps. No account, no ads, no tracking. Your code stays on your iPad and in the folders you choose.Read more
