The app reads the Japanese text on-device and highlights your allergens in red - including the hidden forms that ordinary translation misses (soy sauce contains wheat; "whey" appears as several different Japanese words). YOUR ALLERGEN PROFILE Pick your allergens from Japan's 28 officially designated allergens (wheat, egg, milk, peanut, shrimp, soba and more). Your picks glow red; the other 27 are flagged in yellow so a companion's allergy is caught too. A DICTIONARY BUILT FOR JAPANESE LABELS Each allergen carries a dictionary of the real words used on Japanese packages - alternate spellings, kanji/kana variants, and derived ingredients.
