Bankily

BANKILY is a mobile banking product from Banque Populaire de Mauritanie (BPM). With a banking penetration rate of around 30%, BPM is moving towards mobile banking to encourage financial inclusion in Mauritania. The launch of this mobile product supports the measures undertaken by the Central Bank regarding the demonetization and modernization of payment methods. BPM's mobile banking service was designed and developed by a leading international expert company. Bankily, a registered trademark, facilitates the act of depositing, sending, or paying money using a mobile phone, whether smartphone or basic. The product is accessible via the BANKILY application developed by BPM or through USSD codes from partner operators. The Bankily product allows users to open and manage a bank account using a mobile phone. It provides access to other features such as money transfers, merchant payments, electricity, water, and internet bill payments, and instant mobile phone top-ups. The product aims to make opening a bank account accessible to all Mauritanian residents, regardless of their location or purchasing power. The Bankily network consists of agents representing the Bankily brand, who operate physical locations to manage instant deposit, withdrawal, and money transfer transactions. A network of Bankily branches is being established in the country's provinces (wilayas) to recruit agents in the targeted geographic areas. To facilitate merchant payments via the Bankily product, a large network of merchants offering goods and services will make Bankily payment available to their customers in their stores. These merchants then become Bankily-approved. The Bankily app is available for download on the Apple Store and Google Play Store. The product is accessible through USSD codes from telecom operators and therefore open to holders of classic telephones (without internet).
