Two stations run this lab bench: a speck counter and a pulse rack, sixty and seventy-two rungs deep. First shift, Speck Count: a sample tray rotates under the lamp, scattering red and violet specks across the glass while grey dust stays uncounted. Watch the tray, judge the total, then hold the bellows and release when the pipette dial reads that number. An exact landing clears the rung outright; landing within the margin still clears it for a smaller stamp. Sixty rungs make up Ladder A. Second shift, Pulse Rack: the spectrometer plays a pattern of long and short pulses tied to an element on the bench codebook. Read the pulses, run the pattern back, then flick the capsule into the rack slot that matches. Seventy-two rungs make up Ladder B, each with its own pattern and rack width. The bench log keeps rungs standing, stamps earned, and best streak across both ladders, with badges marking milestones as they clear.
