Glasgow Bin Schedule

Glasgow Bin Schedule shows collection dates for the Glasgow address you choose. Type a postcode, pick your property from the list, and the app loads the calendar that Glasgow City Council publishes for that house. You get the next dates for each bin, a reminder the night before if you want one, and a short guide to what goes in the green, blue, grey, purple and brown bins. COLLECTION DATES After you pick an address, the schedule page lists what is due next and what follows after that. Use the week strip for the next few days, or the calendar page for a month at a time. Dates are stored on the phone, so you can check them later without going back to the council website. Pull to refresh if you think a date may have changed. If your street uses a different mix of bins from the house next door, that is normal. The app follows the calendar for the property you selected, not a generic city-wide rota. REMINDERS Turn notifications on in Settings and choose a time that suits you. The default is late afternoon, early enough to put the bins out after work. Each reminder names the bins due the next day. You can switch reminders off without deleting your address. BIN GUIDE Glasgow households commonly use five bins. The guide in the app matches that set: Green: general waste that cannot be recycled in the other bins. Blue: paper and cardboard. Grey: mixed recycling such as plastic bottles, pots, tins and cartons. Purple: glass bottles and jars. Brown: food waste and garden waste. Each colour has a list of what belongs in it and what should stay out. Glass in the purple bin means bottles and jars. Drinking glasses, Pyrex and window glass stay out. The brown bin takes food and garden waste. Soil, stones and large branches do not. If the lid on your own bin is a different colour from the usual set, you can change the colour used in the app so it matches what you see outside. WEATHER A short forecast sits next to collection days. It is a city-level forecast for Glasgow, not a street-by-street reading. Use it as a heads-up for rain or frost when you are deciding whether to put the bins out the night before. POSTCODES The app is built for Glasgow G postcodes. If your address is in the city and the council has a calendar for it, it should appear after you search. If the list comes back empty, check the spacing in the postcode and try again. If it still fails, look the address up on the council site. DEALS AND LOCAL LISTINGS The Deals tab is separate from the calendar. It can show current offers and a small directory of local businesses. You do not need it for bin dates. Nothing in that tab changes your collection day. SETTINGS YOU MAY WANT You can hide the street name on the main screen if the phone sits on a kitchen worktop. You can change the theme, the reminder time, and the bin colours. Resetting the address takes you back to the postcode screen so you can pick a different property, which is the right move if you have moved house or you set the app up for someone else. WHAT THIS APP IS NOT This is not an official Glasgow City Council product. The council still runs the rounds. The app reads the public calendar and presents it on the phone. Bank holidays, missed uplifts and route changes are the council's to announce. When they update the calendar, refresh the schedule in the app. If a date in the app and a date on the council site disagree, treat the council site as the source and tell us so we can check.
