In Marie's Footsteps

This app brings to life the work of artist and writer Marie Hartley through an interactive AR trail. By following the trail, you'll discover the stories behind her work, the local landscape, and the Dales Countryside Museum's collection. In Marie's Footsteps is a free augmented reality trail at the Dales Countryside Museum, Hawes, that connects the museum's collection with the wider Yorkshire Dales landscape. It was co-created by the museum's Young Creatives — a group of young people who explored the collection and landscape through creative workshops. APP FEATURES Follow the clues Discover six of Marie's lost prints along the trail. Each clue leads you to a real location in the museum's outdoor space. When you arrive, you'll be prompted to use your phone to scan for the lost print, then reveal it by rubbing away the soil on your screen. Each print you find is added to your collection. Meet Hardy Collect all six prints to unlock Hardy, an AR terrier inspired by Marie's own dog. Watch him greet you, leap for joy, and settle back down — then take a photo together to remember your visit. Share your photos with family and friends. GOOD TO KNOW • Free to download and play • You'll need to visit the Dales Countryside Museum in person to follow the trail and unlock Hardy.
