Tile Goblins

Tile Goblins is a scorekeeper for real mahjong, staffed by a crew of very small and very unhelpful goblins. You are already at the table with tiles in your hands. Somebody still has to write down the numbers, work out who pays what, and settle the argument about whether that hand was worth four han or five. That part is this app. The goblins simply make it louder than it needs to be. AT THE TABLE Pick from three rule sets. Riichi with sticks and honba, Hong Kong counted in faan, or Freeform where you type whatever number the table agreed on. Four seats sit around a round arena that tracks the wind, the hand number and who is quietly winning. Log a hand in a few taps, mark the winner and the payer, and the points move themselves. Draw for seats when nobody wants to be dealer. Run a turn timer for the one person who thinks for a very long time. Edit or bin any hand you got wrong, because somebody always does. CALCULATORS AND REFERENCE A full Riichi calculator that builds han and fu properly, including the limit tiers from mangan up to yakuman, seven pairs, all runs, honba and riichi sticks. A Hong Kong faan table with your own limit and chip value, so it matches your table instead of somebody elses. A library of 40 scoring patterns, each with a sample hand drawn out so you can see the shape rather than read a definition. Notes on all 34 tile faces, with the nicknames the goblins gave them. The three rule sets explained in plain English, with no jargon and no assumed knowledge. THE MISCHIEF METER This is the part a plain score sheet cannot do. Big swings fill a meter across the table, and when it tops out one rule bends for a single hand. Points might count double, the leader might be forced to hand some of the lead to whoever is last, or everyone might have to play one hand in complete silence. There are 10 of these and the goblins take full credit for every one of them. Leave it switched off if your table is serious. Nobody will judge you. The goblins will.
