About
Lex is a quiet, personal vault for the English you want to keep. Five portals, each with its own kind of card: NEW VOCAB — a word, the sentence you met it in, its meaning in that context, collocations, part of speech, pronunciation and a memory anchor. The speaker button plays a dictionary recording or the device's own voice, and the detail page lists synonyms and antonyms by sense. USAGE — confusable terms side by side (affect and effect, sensible and sensitive) or a single grammar point, with a memory hack for telling them apart. COMMON ERRORS — the slips you keep making: the wrong sentence and the correct one side by side, as many pairs as you need, plus the rule, the root cause and a self-check for next time. ON WRITING — reusable patterns, templates with placeholders, lists of cohesive devices, plain-English equivalents and applied exemplars. ON SPEAKING — idioms and spoken turns with a two-person demonstration, notes on delivery, and phonetic cadence. Every vault is a swipe deck: one card at a time, swipe left for the next, right for the previous, double-tap to open. Every card carries tags, a bookmark, a mastery level (New, Learning, Mastered) and can be archived. Filter by tag, search across everything including the archive, and sort by recency, mastery or alphabet. Your vault lives on your device and, if you are signed in to iCloud, in your own private iCloud database, so the same entries appear on your iPhone and Mac within seconds. There are no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. OPTIONAL HELPERS, WITH YOUR OWN KEYS • Auto-fill drafts the empty fields of a card from the word and sentence you typed, using the Kimi model from Moonshot AI. Bring your own API key; nothing is sent until you tap the button. • Pronunciation recordings and the thesaurus come from Merriam-Webster's Dictionary API with a free non-commercial key. Both are off until a key is entered in Settings, and keys stay in the device Keychain. Lex is made for a single learner who reads widely and wants a place to put what they find.Read more
