Abfahrt

Abfahrt is a departure board for the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund: the S-Bahn, U-Bahn, trams, buses and regional trains in and around Frankfurt, read the way somebody standing at the stop reads it. WHAT IT SHOWS • What leaves next, with the live time rather than the timetable wherever RMV has one. • Which way out it goes from — the platform at a station, or the side of the street, named by the stop everything there calls at next. • How late it is running, and whether it has been cancelled at all. • Where the next vehicles of a line actually are, drawn on a map, when you tap it. • The whole run of a train or bus, stop by stop, with the times it is keeping. • Service messages from across the network, narrowed to the lines and stops you care about. NEAR ME The stops within 500 metres, nearest first, with the modes that call at each one. Abfahrt opens here, so it asks for your position when this screen is shown — one reading at a time, never followed — and passes it through its own server to RMV to find the stops around you. Say no, and search, saved stops and boards all go on working. KEPT ON YOUR PHONE The stops you save, and the order you put them in, stay on the device. There is no account to make and nothing to sign in to. NOTHING IS TRACKED No advertising, no analytics, no cookies, no account and no profile of you anywhere. Nothing is sold. BUILT TO BE READ A stop can run eight modes and a phone holds one, so modes start folded and what you open stays open. The minutes are set large because they are the thing you are squinting at from the far end of a platform; everything else is set quietly. Live data comes from the open interface of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund. This is not an RMV product and cannot sell you a ticket — for fares and official notices, see rmv.de.
