Trendline: Draw the Line

Every day, Trendline shows you something real (how the price of oil moved, how a country's population grew, how many people named Karen there are at each age) and hides the answer. You drag a line across a blank chart to draw what you think happened. Then the real data appears, with one honest score and the story behind it. DAILY ROUNDS A fresh puzzle in each of four themes, every day: • World: climate, markets, the economy, technology, nature and space • People: population, sport, culture and society • Ages: draw how a group is spread across ages, from people named Jennifer to Olympic skiers to the users of an app, against everyone else • Sunday Special: one line is drawn for you, you draw the other, and the reveal tells you whether the two things are really connected or only look it ONE CLEAR SCORE Your score is the typical distance between your line and the real one, as a share of the chart's height. No hidden formulas: 0% miss is a perfect 100, and every 1% of miss costs 3 points. Small mistakes cost little, big ones add up. LEARN SOMETHING EACH TIME Every reveal gives you the real numbers, a sentence that puts them in context, and the source they came from.
