Underwater video comes back blue, and a dive comes back as forty minutes nobody is going to watch. Surface Interval does both jobs by itself: it puts the red back, and it cuts the dive down to one reel worth watching — on the phone, with nothing uploaded anywhere. HOW IT WORKS Add the videos from a dive, from Photos or from a card reader through Files. They land in a folder for that day, which you can rename to the site you dived. Open the folder and tap "Make a reel of this folder", or pick a few videos and make a reel of just those. The app does the rest. It measures each video and puts back the color the water took — shallow, mid, deep or night, read from the footage itself rather than from a preset you have to guess at. It finds the moments worth keeping, trims them, leaves them in the order they were shot, dissolves between them and lays a track underneath. You get two choices: how long, from 5 seconds to 3 minutes, and whether it is made in 4K for YouTube. Then save it to Photos. WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT IT The correction is measured, not guessed. Footage a camera already corrected is recognized and left alone, so it is never corrected twice. Videos still in iCloud are streamed, not downloaded. A 4K original never has to come down to your phone before it can be used. Vertical and horizontal footage are kept in separate folders, so a reel never mixes the two. A reel interrupted by a phone call or a hot phone carries on from the shot it had reached, instead of starting again. There is no account and no sign-in, and the app makes no network call of its own; a purchase goes through Apple. Your footage is read where it already sits and is never copied anywhere. WORKS WITH DJI Osmo Action, GoPro, Insta360, iPhone — anything that writes an ordinary video file. Reels are saved to Photos at 1080p, or in 4K for YouTube. MUSIC Eight tracks are built in, and 45 more come from Apple on a tap in Settings, on iOS 26.4 and later. One is picked to suit each reel. They come from Pixabay under its Content License: nothing to credit, nothing to pay, and only ever mixed under your own footage.
