Description
Nineteen calculations for combustion engineering: stoichiometry and equivalence ratio, heating value, adiabatic flame temperature with frozen or equilibrium products, chemical equilibrium composition, Rankine-Hugoniot waves, Chapman-Jouguet detonation, von Neumann state, laminar flame speed, flame scales, flammability limits, thermal explosion, well-stirred reactor, flame stretch, quenching distance, mixture fraction, Burke-Schumann flame structure, droplet combustion, turbulent regime diagram and transport properties.
FlameOne is a calculation and checking tool for combustion engineering. It runs entirely on your device, with no network and no account.
WHERE THE NUMBERS COME FROM
Thermodynamic and transport coefficients are read from NASA's CEA data files, bundled unmodified: 5,425 species records, and fitted viscosity and conductivity curves for 66 species. Equilibrium composition is solved by element-potential Gibbs minimisation and was checked against NASA's own published CEA output, case by case. The full licence and NOTICE for that data are readable inside the app.
EXPLORE, DON'T JUST EVALUATE
Change one input and the whole screen follows in the same frame. Sweep the equivalence ratio and watch the equilibrium peak sit slightly rich of stoichiometric, then raise the pressure and watch dissociation retreat and the peak move back toward one. The pressure-volume diagram draws the Rayleigh line against the Hugoniot curve with both intersections marked and each of the seven regions named.
WHERE THERE ARE TWO SOLUTIONS, YOU SEE TWO
Strong and weak branches. Ignition and extinction turning points. Frozen and equilibrium flame temperature side by side, with the difference between them labelled as what it is: the heat absorbed by dissociation. Nothing picks one for you silently.
EVERY SCREEN CARRIES ITS OWN LIMITS
The relation in use is on the screen, and so is what the model does not cover. Flammability limits are marked as measurements that depend on tube diameter and ignition energy, not as material constants. The equilibrium solver reports its iteration count and its largest element residual, so you can see whether the answer is trustworthy rather than assuming it.
OUTPUT YOU CAN HAND IN
Export conditions and results as CSV at 17 significant digits, so a downstream calculation reproduces exactly. Export any chart as a 2x PNG for a report, or as vector PDF for typesetting. Every export carries the conditions it was computed under and the app version β a curve with no stated conditions cannot be checked by anyone, including the person who exported it.
TWO MANUALS, AND EVERY SCREEN CARRIES ITS OWN
Open "Relation and assumptions" on any screen and it states the relation it evaluates, what that relation assumes, how it is solved, where it stops applying, and how accurate the answer is known to be β offline, on the screen you are using. The same material is published as a user manual and a theory manual on the web, generated from the same catalogue the application itself reads, so they cannot describe behaviour it does not have.
WHAT IT DOES NOT DO
No detailed chemical kinetics and no reaction mechanisms; the reactor and ignition models use a single overall step. The equilibrium solver is gas phase only, so soot-forming rich mixtures are incomplete. No propulsion cycle analysis. No transient simulation. These limits are stated on the screens they apply to, not only here.
PRIVACY
No data is collected. There is no network code in the app at all. Nothing you type leaves the device.
