Meet Plumbline

A ninety mark practice for noticing one person. You drop the line. A question comes up with it, about them and not about you. You write what you actually noticed, in your own words, and set it as a mark. Then one thing you will do about it, if there is one. A day or two later it asks what came of it. Not whether you did it. What came of it. It asks twice and then it lets go, and nothing anywhere keeps a tally of the ones you left. The line goes down ninety marks. Then it stops, and what you wrote is set in type. The questions go deeper as the line does. Not longer and not more often. More specific, and more exposing to answer honestly. It asks at the start whether you live in the same house or apart, because those two need different questions. Apart gets its own set. What she led with. What she has stopped mentioning. What she sounded like at the end of the call and not the start. It does not count days. There is no streak, no score, no badge, and nothing anywhere that subtracts. Nothing here measures whether it worked, because that is not a thing an app can see. The line is where you left it, whether you were away twelve hours or five weeks. Nothing you write leaves the phone. There is no account, no sign in, no server, and no analytics, and the app makes no network requests at all. What you write rides in your phone's own encrypted backup, so a new phone can restore it, and nobody else can read it, including whoever made this. The only thing it stores about anyone else is the first name you type, so the questions can say it. Nothing about them is inferred. The app never tells you something about them that you did not write yourself. Bought once. No subscription. It ends, and that is the design.
