About
Matla is a calm, ad-free companion for daily worship: prayer times, fasting, the Qibla and the Quran. Everything is worked out on your phone. There are no accounts, no servers, no ads and no analytics. Most apps in this category are paid for by advertising, and some have been caught selling location data. Matla is built so that it cannot do either. It makes no network requests at all: its App Store privacy label reads "Data Not Collected", and there is no account to attach anything to. FASTING, ALL YEAR • Suhoor and iftar countdowns and a fasting ring that follows the day — in Ramadan, and on any other day you choose to fast • Reminders before suhoor, at imsak, at Fajr, and before and at iftar • The voluntary fasts named as they come round: Mondays and Thursdays, the white days of the 13th to the 15th, Tasu'a and Ashura, the first nine of Dhul-Hijjah, the Day of Arafah, and a note in Shawwal about its six • The days on which fasting is not permitted — the two Eids and the days of Tashriq — named as such, with the note that Matla is not a religious authority and the day is yours • Ramadan day number, the month's timetable, and a countdown to Eid • A private record of the days you fasted, missed, were exempt, or made up — kept on your phone • A count of the days you have to make up, which you set yourself from what the app recorded rather than being told • Home-screen widgets, and a Live Activity that keeps the countdown on the Lock Screen • Confirm the real first day of fasting when your community announces it, and the whole calendar follows PRAYER • Offline prayer times with a countdown to the next prayer • Every calculation method shown with its actual angles, not just a name: Umm al-Qura, ISNA, Muslim World League, Moonsighting Committee, Egypt, Karachi, Diyanet, JAKIM, Kemenag, Dubai, and more than a dozen others • Asr according to the standard or Hanafi position • High-latitude rules, with the app telling you when a rule has actually changed a time • A reminder at each prayer, and a self-test that sends a real notification so you can confirm your phone is not holding them back QIBLA • The true bearing to the Kaaba, always shown, because it depends only on where you are • A compass needle that withdraws itself when the sensor is unreliable, rather than pointing somewhere it cannot stand behind QURAN • The full Uthmani text, offline, in a proper Quranic typeface • An English translation alongside it, which you can hide • Search in Arabic or English • Bookmarks, last-read position, and adjustable text size ISLAMIC CALENDAR • The Hijri date, with a correction if your community differs from the calculated calendar • Ramadan, the two Eids, Ashura, Arafah, the days of Dhul-Hijjah and the last ten nights, each with the date on both calendars ON ACCURACY Prayer times are calculated, and authorities differ. Matla shows you which method it used and what its angles are, so you can compare against your local mosque and change it if it disagrees. Hijri dates come from the Umm al-Qura calendar, which is calculated rather than sighted, so future dates are labelled estimated and can be corrected by a day. WHAT MATLA DOES NOT DO No account. No cloud sync. No ads. No analytics or crash reporting. No feed, no leaderboard, no chatbot. It does five things and tries to do them properly. Free, with every feature included. ON ACCURACY
Prayer times are calculated, and authorities differ. Matla shows you which method it used and what its angles are, so you can compare against your local mosque and change it if it disagrees. Hijri dates come from the Umm al-Qura calendar, which is calculated rather than sighted, so future dates are labelled estimated and can be corrected by a day.
