Wordlock: Word Duel

Wordlock is a turn-based two-player word game — a modern take on the classic pen-and- paper game Ghost — that you play backwards. You and one friend pick a category, then take turns adding a single letter to a growing string. Nobody is trying to spell anything. You are both trying not to be the one who finishes a real word. Think of it as a spelling duel crossed with a game of chicken: part vocabulary puzzle, part bluff, all played two people at a time. No bots, no matchmaking, no lobby full of strangers — just you and one person you chose. HOW A ROUND WORKS Pick a category — Animals, Plants, Countries, or type your own. Anything goes: 90s bands, things in this room, your ex's red flags. Take turns. One letter each, appended to the end. The word gets longer and the trap gets tighter. Call it! The moment you think the board already spells something, tap Settle round instead of playing. If they agree, the round goes to whoever didn't play the finishing letter. If they say play on, you still owe a letter — and now they know you're watching. Stuck with nothing to play? Concede. The round goes to them, and the next one starts clean.
