Sunesh tells you when the light will be worth photographing, where it will come from, and whether the sky is going to cooperate — for the exact place you are standing, not the city you are near. FIND THE LIGHT YOU LOVE Choose a photo you love. Sunesh reads its light — how high the sun was, where it came from, how warm it was — and tells you the days and minutes that light comes round again where you are, and which way to face. A COACH FOR THE PORTRAIT Point the camera at someone and pick the look: soft, dramatic or backlight. Sunesh finds the face, measures the light on it and gives one instruction at a time — turn them this way, bounce light onto the face, step round to put the sun behind them — with the ISO, shutter and aperture for the shot. For backlight, it walks you to the spot, metre by metre. PUT THE SUN WHERE YOU WANT IT Point the camera at the point in your frame where you want the sun or moon, or set the direction and height by hand, and Sunesh finds the days and times it gets there. If it never does, it says so and offers the nearest thing that is possible. THE DAY, HOUR BY HOUR Golden hour, blue hour, sunrise, sunset and the whole twilight ladder, with the sun's bearing and height at any minute. When the Milky Way's core is high enough and the sky dark enough — and the next open night if tonight is not it. The next lunar eclipse you can actually watch from where you are. WORTH THE TRIP? Say what sky you want — clear, broken cloud, soft overcast, fog — and see which of the coming days bring it to a place.
