Vow is the focus timer that finally has teeth. You stake coins on a session. Then you put the phone down. If you peek at notifications, switch apps or pick the phone up, coins burn off — live, automatically, no way to undo it afterwards. When the timer ends and you kept your word, the coins are yours again. WHY IT WORKS Every other focus app sells a consequence and then softens it: a pause button, a tap to unlock, a charge you can decline. Vow's consequence is pre-paid and automatic. Loss aversion does the rest — losing five coins hurts more than earning five ever felt good. HOW A SESSION WORKS • Pick a duration: 15, 25, 45, 60 or 90 minutes, or a preset (Pomodoro, Exam sprint, Deep work). • Choose your stake. The rules are shown before you confirm. • The screen goes dark. A Live Activity keeps the countdown on your lock screen. • Peeking at notifications: −1 coin (the first one is a free warning). Leaving the app: −1 every 30 seconds away. Touching or picking up the phone: −1. • Locking your phone is always free. Real phone calls are always exempt. • End Session is always available — you simply forfeit what is still at stake. Vow never traps you. WHAT YOU GET BACK • A receipt for every session: exactly what distracted you, when, and what it cost. • History and a weekly report: focused minutes, coins lost, distractions by hour and by kind, your streak, your phone-free time. • A daily reminder if you want one — that is all notifications are for.
