Otakana: Anime Word Game

Otakana is a word game about anime. Every answer is a character name or a term from the genre, and you spell it out one guess at a time. There are four ways to play, a monthly leaderboard, and no account to make. FOUR MODES Daily. One puzzle a day for everyone, resetting at 00:00 UTC. Win or lose, it locks until the next reset and you get a spoiler-free grid to share. Your streak counts consecutive daily wins. Classic. Play as many puzzles as you like at easy, normal, or hard. Easy runs short 4 and 5 letter answers, hard runs 6 to 8 letters and deeper cuts. Each difficulty keeps its own best run. Fever. A timed unscramble. The letters sit on a ring of discs, you tap them into the slots, and a gold arc counts down. Solve the name and the clock resets for the next one. Score is how many you get before the time runs out. Clue Ladder. Three clues, three strikes. You start with the series, then the kind of answer, then a written hint. Spell it from a bank of letters that includes decoys. Solving on the first clue is worth 3 points, the second 2, the third 1. HOW THE GRID WORKS Answers are 4 to 8 letters, and the grid shows the length before you type. You get one more guess than the answer is long, so a 5-letter name gives you 6 tries. Teal means the letter is in the right spot. Amber means it is in the answer somewhere else. Ink grey means it is not there at all. There is no dictionary check, because character names are not dictionary words. WHAT ELSE IS IN THERE - Monthly leaderboard. A daily win scores points based on how few guesses you needed. Points add up across the calendar month and the board resets on the 1st at 00:00 UTC. - Trophies. Ten of them, for streaks, long runs, and clean wins. They sync to Game Center if you are signed in. - Hints and darts. A hint ghosts one correct letter into your row. A dart greys out keyboard letters that are not in the answer. You start with three of each. - Reveal card. Every puzzle ends with the answer, the series it comes from, the year it first appeared, and a couple of sentences about it. Losing still shows it. - Stats. Streak, win rate, and a guess distribution, fed by the daily only. - No account. Pick any display name and play. There is no sign-up and no email. - Dark theme by default, light theme in settings. ADS AND REMOVE ADS Otakana is free and supported by advertising: a banner on the game screen and an interstitial after a puzzle finishes. Rewarded videos are always opt-in, for refilling a hint or a dart or taking one extra guess after a loss. Every puzzle can be finished without watching anything. A one-time Remove Ads purchase turns off the banner and the interstitial for good. ABOUT THE CONTENT Otakana is an independent fan-made game and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any anime studio, publisher, or licensor.
