Roll Rescue: ZIP to Photos

Your photos and videos are sitting in a .zip on your phone. Roll Rescue puts them into Photos with their original capture dates intact. Import an archive the careless way and every item is stamped with the day you imported it. Thousands of photos, all dated today, piled at the end of Recents. That is the failure this app exists to prevent. HOW THE DATES SURVIVE • The file's own EXIF or QuickTime capture metadata is read first — it is the safest source and it is accurate to the second. • If a photo carries no date of its own, a date index inside the archive is used, converted from UTC so nothing shifts by a few hours. • If there is no index either, the ZIP entry's own timestamp is used. • A good date is never overwritten by a worse one. • An item that genuinely cannot be dated is imported anyway and flagged in the report, never quietly stamped with today. WHAT ELSE IT GETS RIGHT • Overlays are composited the right way up — on video as well as on stills. • Every entry's CRC is checked. A damaged one is skipped and counted, not written into your library as broken bytes. • ZIP64 is read properly, so a large archive works — which is the only kind this app is for. • One item is extracted, imported and cleared before the next is touched, so a 20 GB archive does not need 20 GB of space free. • The import resumes after you lock the phone, switch apps, or are interrupted. • Running the same archive twice creates nothing twice. • Photos, HEIC, PNG and video (.jpg .jpeg .png .heic .mp4 .mov) are all handled. • Every run ends with real counts: imported, already imported, undated, skipped, damaged, unsupported.
