Ptolemy Times Tables

Ptolemy Times Tables is a free times-tables app for UK primary children. No adverts, no subscription, nothing to buy, no accounts, and no internet connection of any kind — everything happens on the device, and nothing is ever collected. Built around the Year 4 check The Year 4 Check mode is a faithful practice run of the Multiplication Tables Check: three practice questions, then 25 scored ones, six seconds each, multiplication only, tables 2 to 12, with the same three-second gap between questions. It gives a score out of 25 and nothing else. There is no pass mark in the real check, so this app never invents one. It notices what your child finds hard Every answer updates a picture of which facts are secure and which are shaky. Facts that were wrong, or slow, come back sooner. Facts that are solid come back rarely. Nobody has to decide what to practise next. The grid is the point The home screen is a 13 × 13 grid that fills in as facts become secure — grey, then red, then orange, then green. A child can watch a whole table turn green. A grown-up can read the same grid in ten seconds. A licence for every times table Learn a few facts in a table by heart and its provisional licence appears under My licences; learn more of them and it becomes a full licence, and an advanced one once the whole table has been known. Licences are never taken away, however a later week goes, and the screen never lists what is missing — only what has been earned. Three ways to practise • Multiplication practice — you pick the tables, untimed unless a grown-up turns a timer on • Division practice — the other half of every fact family • Year 4 Check — the MTC replica described above Whichever one your child plays, every answer feeds the same grid. Kind by design Wrong answers cost nothing. There are no streaks to break, no leaderboards, no comparisons between children, no random rewards and no time-limited events. Stars are earned and never taken away. Come back after a few days away and the app says "Welcome back!" — nothing has been lost, because nothing ever resets. For grown-ups Behind a press-and-hold gate: the school year, whether practice is timed and whether the countdown shows, sounds and vibration, per-fact progress, days practised, optional weekly practice summaries, and separate profiles for more than one child — with no screen anywhere that compares them. Privacy Nothing leaves the device. No analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no tracking, no accounts, no sign-in. Your child is never asked their age; a grown-up chooses the school year during setup, behind the gate. Works fully offline, including in aeroplane mode.
