Deep Orbit

Deep Orbit generates its sound in real time. There are no audio files in this app — every tone, every band of noise, every reflection is computed while you listen. No two sessions are identical, and nothing ever loops. Most of its sessions end. An eight-minute session slows down for eight minutes and then arrives at silence, and the screen shows you where you are in that descent without asking you to watch it. Two sessions are open-ended, for when you want sound that simply stays. SESSIONS • Mental Reset — 8 minutes. It slows down, and then it stops. • Quick Reset — 4 minutes, same descent. • Wind Down — 25 minutes, ending in almost nothing. • Drift — Open-ended. No arc, no ending. • Focus Field — Open-ended. Steady, and slightly brighter. MADE FOR HEADPHONES Stereo width comes from a model of a head, not from a stereo widener: a real interaural delay, and the shadow a skull casts across the far ear. It stays coherent on a speaker and has depth on headphones. BREATHING, IF YOU WANT IT A slow pacer moves with the sound rather than over it. It never counts at you and it is not a coach. Tap three times in rhythm and it takes your rate instead of its own.
