MonoMoji

MonoMoji shows words you choose as block shapes instead of letters. You pick the words. Everywhere MonoMoji reads for you, those words appear as their shapes, and everything else stays as ordinary text. The shapes come from a fixed alphabet: every letter has one three-cell column, so a word always looks the same wherever it appears. Three ways to read Paste or type your own text and read it straight away. Open a book. Twelve are included, from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland to Moby Dick, and you can search Project Gutenberg for more and add them to your shelf. Your place in a book is kept on this device, so a book you come back to opens where you left it. Browse a web page. Type an address or keep a short list of sites, and the page is shown with your words as shapes, the same way the Safari extension shows them. Practice Two exercises, both built from the words in your own library: see the shape and choose the word, or see the word and choose the shape. Your best time per word is kept so you can see it change. Nothing is scored and there are no streaks. Your words Add and remove words in the Library tab. With an account your library and your settings are kept with your MonoMoji account, so the same words appear in Safari on this device and on monomoji.com. The Safari extension MonoMoji includes a Safari extension, and the extension is where most reading happens: once you turn it on in Settings, your words appear as shapes on the pages you already read. The app is where you choose words, practise them and read on its own surfaces. What is kept, and where Pages you read in the app and in Safari are counted on this device only, to suggest words for your library. Nothing you read is sent to us. Your place in a book is kept on this device and is not synced. Your word library and display settings are kept with your account when you are signed in. An account can be deleted from Settings, which removes the account, the library and the settings, and clears the app's data on this device. There is no advertising, no analytics and no third-party tracking.
