You are a wizard, and everything that comes at you is here to stop you. Hexwick is a one-handed action roguelike. Drag your finger — the wizard fires on his own. All you decide is where to run and which power to take. ■ A DIFFERENT WIZARD EVERY RUN Choose from 19 abilities, and the ones you pick stack. Collect the right pairs and abilities evolve into something else entirely: chaining lightning, ice that freezes and shatters, a bolt that bursts into shrapnel. You never finish the same stage with the same build twice. ■ 60 STAGES, 12 BOSSES Sixty stages from forest to desert, lava caves to ruins. Every three stages share a terrain, then the scenery changes completely. Twelve different bosses wait along the way, each with its own attack pattern and its own rhythm. There is no getting past them without learning the pattern. ■ 17 MONSTER TYPES Some charge you, some shoot from range, some burrow and wait. The one that splits as it dies and the one that explodes have to be learned separately. As the crowd grows, the question stops being where to aim and becomes where not to run. ■ GEAR AND CHESTS 5 sets, 6 slots, 30 pieces: staff, armor, helm, boots, amulet, bracelet. Equip what drops from chests and grow stronger — every piece upgrades to level 9. Wear a full set and a separate bonus unlocks. A chest shows its reward odds on screen before you open it. No surprises. ■ NIGHTMARE MODE AND THE LEADERBOARD Clear stage 25 and Nightmare Mode opens: no stages, no ending, pure survival. All that counts is how long you last, and your time goes onto the global leaderboard. ■ 9 SKINS Cosmetic only. Every skin has its own projectile look. It touches nothing about your power — it just looks like you. ■ PLAYS OFFLINE On a plane, in the metro, anywhere with no signal. The game asks for no connection; your progress lives on your device. Nightmare Mode is the exception: its leaderboard is global, so that mode needs a connection. When you do go online, your save backs up to the cloud; link your account and a new phone picks up where you left off. ■ BUILT FOR PHONES One hand, one finger. Portrait. It starts without a loading screen and stages are short: one run while you queue, two on the bus. ■ IN 8 LANGUAGES English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and Indonesian. Everything from menus to boss names is translated. A world drawn pixel by pixel, hand-made boss patterns, and a wizard rebuilt from scratch every run.
