Five streams of numbers tick away, day and night, over dark Louisiana water — and each stream is born from a completely different kind of mathematics: THE OLD CLOCK — a classic 1950s formula, ticking like machinery THE LONG MEMORY — the Mersenne Twister, which won't repeat for 6,000 digits' worth of draws THE LIGHTNING PATH — pure bit-flips, scattering like rain on water THE BUTTERFLY — deterministic chaos, the butterfly effect in one line of math THE BAYOU ITSELF — real entropy harvested from your own device's physical noise True randomness never agrees with itself. The brass needle at the bottom measures how much these five unrelated streams are agreeing anyway. GREEN is life. You will almost always see green. YELLOW drifts by now and then. Chance allows it.
