Most recall apps either charge you for the alerts or bury them in advertising. We built Clearbowl differently — the recall feed and its notices aren't paywalled, because safety information shouldn't be hard to reach. Clearbowl puts them alongside everything else the FDA publishes, so you can check what you feed without hunting through government websites. The feed covers all food recalls, not just pet products. Your dog isn't the only one eating in your house. SCAN WHAT'S ACTUALLY ON YOUR SHELF Point your camera at a barcode and Clearbowl checks it against every recall notice it holds. You get one of three answers, and they look different on purpose: - Recalled — this exact product appears in a recall notice, with the steps to take - Possible match — the brand and product match, but you'll need to check your lot code - No match found — nothing in the recall data matches this barcode That last one is not a safety guarantee, and Clearbowl says so plainly. A product can be unsafe before a recall is issued, and some notices never publish a barcode at all. We'd rather tell you what we don't know. HOW IT WORKS Clearbowl reads recall notices published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and organises them so they're actually readable.
