Zapchat is a clean, focused chat app for the messaging account you already have. Link the account on your phone and stay in touch with friends, family and colleagues from a calmer app. Zapchat connects as a companion device, the same way a desktop client does, so your account stays on your own phone. KEY FEATURES - Group chats: read and reply, with names and participants. - Multimedia: photos, videos, voice notes, documents, stickers, your location and contact cards. - Voice and video calls: place and answer calls, with mute, speaker and call duration. - Receipts: sent, delivered and read. - Your archived and muted conversations stay archived and muted. WHAT IT LEAVES OUT No Status. No Channels. No AI assistant. These are not tucked behind a setting — they are not built, so nothing can switch them back on. HOW LINKING WORKS Enter the phone number of the account you want to use. Zapchat gives you an eight-character code. On the phone holding that account, open WhatsApp, go to Linked Devices, choose to link with a phone number, and type the code. PRIVACY Messages travel through a relay operated by TAG, which is what makes a companion client possible. Content is held in memory only, is never written to disk, and is never used for advertising or to train anything. Notifications carry the sender's name and the message text, so you can read one without opening the app; that means both pass through Apple's push service.
