Some messages you would rather not leave sitting in a chat app forever. The one that was only ever meant for one person. The photo you do not want backed up to somebody's cloud. The thing you would say out loud but never put in writing. CloakFort is for those. You write it, you pick one person, and it leaves your phone encrypted for them alone. WHY CLOAKFORT - Encrypted for one person, end to end. Your message is encrypted on your phone and decrypted on theirs, and nowhere in between. X25519, HKDF and AES-256-GCM, if you want the names. If you do not: nobody in the middle reads a word of it, and that includes us. - Your key stays on your phone. The private key lives in the iOS Keychain and never leaves the device. We hold no copy of it, so there is nothing we could hand over even if someone asked. Keep your recovery code and you can carry on from a new phone. - It can travel inside an ordinary photo. Pick a picture and CloakFort writes the encrypted message into its pixels. Steganography is the technical word for it. Your recipient just opens it in the app; to everyone else it is a photo. - Read once, then gone. Messages self-destruct after they are viewed, and expire on their own even if nobody opens them. Nothing sits around waiting to be found. - A lock on the app itself. Use a PIN, a fingerprint or your face. Handing someone your unlocked phone does not hand them your messages. - Contacts, without the address-book grab. To find who else is here, CloakFort compares scrambled one-way versions of a contact, never the name or the number. Anyone who is not here yet gets an invite instead. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Nothing we could read ever reaches us. Text crosses our servers already encrypted; a photo or a file crosses as a picture with the encrypted content inside it. Either way, the only readable copy of your conversation is on the two phones. Privacy here is not a setting you remember to switch on. It is how the app is built.
