Carddle

Carddle is three card games played on a grid. Every card takes a square, and the square you pick decides what can still be built around it later. You build runs and sets as you would in a rummy game, but where they go is half the game. ANCHOR Two to six players on a 15 by 15 board that grows outward from a single ace in the middle. Melds read in both directions and run three to five cards. Nothing moves once it is down, so a bad placement stays bad. Aces are not low cards here. They are anchors, and an ace is the only way to start a new island somewhere else on the board. TIDE Two to four players on a 20 by 20 table. On your turn you can pull the whole table apart and rebuild it, as long as everything is valid again when you are done. Melds sit as islands, they can cross each other and share a card, and they run from three cards to thirteen. Three match formats, from a single round to a long match. LINE Two to four players filling one shared 4 by 4 grid. Only rows count. Every row has to end up a run or a set of four, nobody can take a row apart once it is down, and the winner is whoever finishes holding the least. Sixteen squares fill up fast, and a row that has committed to cards nobody can reach is stuck. HOW YOU PLAY Solo against the app. Anchor's opponents come in two styles, Balanced and Bold. Pass and play, one device going round the table. Host a table on your local network and let the devices around you take the remaining seats. Watch a table without taking a seat, on another device or on Apple TV. PRIVACY There is no account and no sign-up. Nothing is collected, and there is no server on our end that could collect it. The only permission the app asks for is local network access, and that is so a table can find the devices near it. Solo and pass and play work with no connection at all. Bought once.
