About

Documents you can listen to. Vocadoc opens the files you already have — PDF, plain text, Markdown and RTF — and reads them out loud in a clear voice while you follow along on screen. Pick a file, tap Read aloud, and put the phone down. WHAT IT OPENS • PDF — rendered page by page, with the text lifted straight out of the file • TXT — plain text you can scroll and select • Markdown — headings, lists and links shown properly formatted • RTF — rich text converted cleanly into readable text LISTEN THE WAY YOU LIKE • Pick a male or a female voice • Set the reading speed, from slow and deliberate to brisk • Start and stop from the reading screen • Long documents play straight through without stopping at page breaks Reading aloud uses the text-to-speech engine already on your device, and speaks English. Some Android voices are supplied by the system over the network, so which voices are available to you depends on your device rather than on Vocadoc. YOUR DOCUMENTS STAY ON YOUR DEVICE Vocadoc has no servers of its own and uploads nothing. Files are opened from your own storage, and reading the text out of them and drawing the pages both happen on the phone. • No account, no sign-up, nothing to log in to • No advertising of any kind • Opening and reading your documents needs no internet connection • Your recent files list never leaves the device RECENT FILES, ONE TAP AWAY Your last twenty documents wait on the home screen, so the thing you were reading yesterday is one tap away. Swipe a file off the list when you are finished with it. FIFTEEN LANGUAGES The app itself is available in Arabic, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Turkish. Reading aloud is in English. WHAT'S FREE, AND WHAT ISN'T Opening and reading your documents is free, always, with no limit of any kind. Read-aloud is free for 30 minutes a day. If you listen for longer than that, an optional monthly subscription removes the limit. When the 30 minutes run out the speech stops, but your document stays open and readable, and the meter starts again the next day. No subscription is needed to read anything in Vocadoc. QUIET BY DESIGN Light and dark themes follow your system setting. There is no home feed, no notifications and nothing to subscribe to in order to read a document. Open a file and listen.Read more

Versions

  1. Version 1.4.1First seen · 20 Sept 2026

<br>Read-aloud is now free for 30 minutes a day; an optional monthly subscription removes the limit. Opening and reading documents stays unlimited and free. The voice picker now names each accent instead of an engine code; recent files show format and size. Also: Markdown no longer reads aloud as stray symbols, voice/speed settings stay put between documents, unreadable files say so instead of spinning, and PDF text extraction is steadier.
